They have the capabilities to partner with their customers at every project stage; from design, engineering and prototyping through testing and validation to series production and stock management.  Currently, our client is looking to employ an Sr. Industrial Engineer-Automation based out of Columbus, Indiana.


Summary of Primary Daily Responsibilities:

This position leads large Industrial Engineering projects from concept through completion including design, manufacture, installation, and test of managed equipment projects. Also develops and trains maintenance, operations, and troubleshooting guides for Production. Mentors and coaches junior engineers in best practices. Works closely with all departments of organization as well as any outside suppliers, contractors, and resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following; other duties may be assigned.

Manages activities to design, procure and launch new manufacturing equipment on assigned projects.
Analyzes technology trends, human resource factors, budget constraints, and supplier capabilities to plan projects. Delivers projects on time and under budget.
Confers with Management, production, and sales staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and end use for new and existing equipments.
Assists in forecasting budget requirements for future years.
Develops equipment in compliance of TS16949, ISO14001, or other regulatory or customer driven requirements.
Mentors and coaches junior engineers in best practices.
Involved in development of Department processes and documentation.
Prepares presentation materials for management or other outside audiences.
Actively participates in teams that are focused on root cause analysis, continual improvement activities, and new product development.
Works with the individual department heads on planning of workflows and meets with vendors and subcontractors to assist in the managing of the priorities.
Leads by example in following all compliance and safety regulations and policies.  Participates in the training of department personnel.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

B.S. Mechanical Engineering; and/or 5-15 years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Should have extensive experience in managing and implementing automation projects effectively. Should have experience with PLC's (preferably Allen-Bradley), robots (Fanuc, Staubli, Epson), vision systems (Cognex, Keyence), AutoCad Inventor & Mechanical, mechanical systems designs, sensor types and applications, and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
