My customer has manufactured exterior lighting and signaling systems for major automotive manufacturers for almost 25 years! Committed to continuous quality improvement, my client has earned QS-9000 and ISO-14001 certificates of approval. Now, almost 25 years and numerous industry firsts later, the company is an established industry leader, employing over 1,000 people. The Seymour, Indiana facility encompasses more than half a million square feet, and the company operates a manufacturing facility in Queretaro, Mexico and a sales office in Dearborn, Michigan. Leading automotive manufacturers rely on my client for innovative exterior lighting and signaling systems. 1 out of 4 vehicles produced in the world carry my client’s products.  Currently, my client has a need for several Product Development Engineers to work in its lighting programs based in Seymour Indiana.  As a Product Development Engineer for this prestigious company some of your responsibilities will include:


Manage project R&D actions in line with Constant Innovation Policy (CIP) and client Production Systems. Accountable
 for the deliverables to ensure the success of the project. Responsible for the detailed scheduling and budgeting of scope.
 Empowered by their functions to manage their respective contributors. Customer interface responsibility.

- Apply the CIP / PM handbook. In charge of the robust design in line with the economical targets
- Apply standardization rules, will request de-standardizations based on sound justifications
- Request all necessary design reviews
- Ensure that design reviews of other networks are happening in a timely manner
- Represent the R&D function at the customer
- Interface with the customer for the R&D subjects of the project; break down and cascade internally customer requests
 and needs dDetailed scheduling and budgeting
- Contribute to the identification of the needs in terms of resources, equipment, and investments
- Establish detailed breakdown of the activities to meet the customer and internal milestones
- Follow activities and spending of scope to meet allowed budget
Management of the R&D contributors (mechanic, optic, electronic, simulation, laboratory)
- Daily management of all R&D contributors, dedicated or not
- Regular review with the Department Managers to check alignment between needs and availabilities

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial field of study preferred
- Requires strong communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Requires high degree of problem solving and teamwork skills
- Travel required
- 3 years experience as a Mechanical CAD Engineer
